I am a UW Stevens Point Graduate, class of 1989. Initially, I was going to study traditional forestry and forestry management. As I went through college I noted that the job pool for forest management was much smaller than the urban forestry sector so I switched majors. My bottom line was that I wanted to work outside and it was the logical choice. In 1997 Steve Bassett reached out to Ben and myself and asked if we wanted to start a tree care and landscaping company. So in 1998, we formed Steven R. Bassett Inc.
Here at Bassett, I want to continue to build Bassett Inc. into a place where people can have a career, not just a job. My goal is that all of our workers can have a work life and a life outside of work. My favorite thing about this company is that we are like one big family.
When I am not at work, I enjoy as many outdoor activities as I can. When I am not walking my dogs, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and disc golf.

I graduated from UW Stevens Point in 1996 with a degree in urban forestry. I worked at a company with Steve Bassett and Steve Vicen until that company closed in 1997. Bassett asked if we would start a company together and we said yes and opened Bassett Inc in 1998. Since then we have been working towards building a work environment of hard working like-minded people. We have built and continue to build a community where the bond goes outside of the workplace. I believe that this is what will keep the company prosperous in a way that can be passed onto the next generation of arborists.
My favorite part of my job is working with customers to make their yards beautiful and healthy. With Bassett Inc. having specialized departments, we have the ability to help people in every facet that is needed.
Outside of work if I am not walking my dog or spending time with my family and friends, you can find me powerlifting on the north side of Madison.
